There are other complexes with idols of Lord Shiva, Lord Rama, and Lord Ganesh. In one of the complex, there is a temple dedicated to Baba Neeb Karori. Bhandaras (free food for devotees) are held on Sundays. A little History Sankat Mochan Temple was established in 1966.
Baba Neeb Karori Ji Maharaj visited this place in 1950 and was deeply influenced by its peacefulness and natural beauty. Admiring its serenity he stayed here in a hut for ten days doing meditation. He was so impressed with Sankat Mochan that he thought of establishing a temple here that would be dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The contemporary Lt Governor of Himachal Pradesh was one of a disciple of Baba Neeb Karori Ji Maharaj. To keep his gurus wish he began the construction of the temple and completed it in June 1966.
Sankat Mochan Temple was a small structure at that time. With time the temple slowly gained popularity and got funds for construction of the temple complex. Now the entire temple complex is quite huge and offers good amenities. How to Reach Sankat Mochan temple The temple is at a distance of 7 kilometers from Shimla. You can either take a local bus or hire a taxi to reach here. As you reach Sankat Mochan stoppage you need to walk a little to reach the temple campus.
